Orange: Future

Twenty-six-year-old Hiroto Suwa; his wife, Naho; and their old high school classmates—Takako Chino, Azusa Murasaka, and Saku Hagita—visit Mt. Koubou to view the cherry blossoms together. While watching the setting sun, they reminisce about Kakeru Naruse, their friend who died 10 years ago. Mourning for him, they decide to visit Kakeru's old home, where they learn the secret of his death from his grandmother.

In 1940, Masaaki Takaoka works as a teacher in the agricultural division at a youth training institute. In an attempt to give the young men some hope, he makes everyone promise that they will all meet again under the cherry blossoms upon their safe return. Consumed by sadness over the fate of his students, Masaaki devotes the next 30 years of his life to develop a new species of cherry blossoms that could thrive in any climate in remembrance of his students.

The Blind Spot

On his last day as a policeman, he leads an investigation that takes him to Charleroi where a raid on a drug lab sets in motion a series of unforeseeable and fatal events.

A 73-year-old woman is physically and emotionally exhausted from caring for her ailing husband who is already in the last stage of his Alzheimer's Disease. He lives in a constant state of confusion and anxiety, occasionally haunted by visions of both faceless and familiar strangers. The wife's frustration and loneliness grows daily as she comes to terms with both her husband's deteriorating state and her own mortality.

The King of Rowing

A pre-war sports movie by director Tomu Uchida. This story is set at the Waseda-Keio regatta. This was shot at the banks of the Sumida River, where the regatta is still held today. The main stroke role of Mochizuki was played by young star Tsunemi Hirose. Mochizuki, who enrolled in A University that lost the previous year gains the trust of the President's niece Mitsuko (Shizue Natsukawa) but a spy from the other side uses this relationship to create a scandal. The regatta approaches, with Mochizuki not able to participate... The supporters and atmosphere of student sports at the time are well presented.

A Zebra-Riding Boy

Adapted from novels by celebrated Chinese writer Su Tong. Zuo Lin, a poor bow-legged boy, has a small dream - to ride a zebra across the busiest part of the city. Zuo Lin’s transition from an unhappy rider of a rocking-horse, through a happy zebra-rider and a sorrowful hussar officer, to a beaming paper horse rider makes for an absorbing film with a grand narrative. Yet, on the surface, it’s a popular story - girlfriend of a trust fund kid tries to help her boyfriend trick Zuo Lin, but ends up falling in love with him.

The Age of Power

The story revolves around the conflict between the Al-Fayoumi and Al-Mursi families, after the murder of one of Al-Mursi's sons by one of Adham Al-Fayoumi's sons. Adham succeeds in escaping punishment for his son by forging the testimony of one witness and killing two others, while Amina, the lawyer and daughter of Adham Al-Fayoumi, objects to her father's devious approach aimed at distancing his son from responsibility for his crime. The Al-Mursi family takes revenge on Al-Fayoumi by targeting and killing Al-Fayoumi's son and kidnapping Amina's children.
